Hello Everybody!glad_your_back

Welcome to our new and improved blog/website.  Unfortunately I had to transfer my posts from my last blog to this new one, so this is a condensed version of the old blog.  Moving all the text and pictures was a little too tedious for me.  I am very excited about the new site though!  I also have tons of ideas for posts that I have been storing in my head while waiting for this to come together.  I’d love to hear feedback and comments on the site.  Feel free to leave them below.  Stay tuned for my next post later today or tomorrow to read my big announcement!

Rent Some Style.. (Philadelphia, New Jersey, Event Planner)

It seems like all that is ever talked about anymore is the economy. . . So I might as well go with it:) I came across a way that you can keep yourself in style AND money on your wallet. Almost all women love to wear something that stands out, gets attention, and probably can’t afford. Now you can go to your next event wearing ensembles by the hottest designers, starting at only 10 % of the price.
You can go to http://www.weartodaygonetomorrow.com/ to rent a dress for one week at 10% of the retail value. You can rent this blue Versace, retailed at $730.00 for one week for just $73.00 and $10.00 for cleaning.

You can go to http://www.bagborroworsteal.com/ to borrow accessories like purses, watches, sunglasses, jewelery, etc. And you can borrow for as long as you like, a week, a month, 6 months, etc.

You can also go to www.blingyourself.com to rent jewelry and watches from David Yurman, Tiffany & Co., etc.

Phil Kramer Photography (Philadelphia, New Jersey, Event Planner)

I just got back from meeting with Phil Kramer, a great photographer based in center city, but can travel anywhere. I got to take a tour of his great studio, which looks deceptively small from the outside I might add. The inside is over 3000 sq ft. and has space for anything you could need. Just being there makes me want to have my picture taken. I also got to see some of his work that he has on display which is all fabulous! If you have anything you need a photographer for, check this guy out! He does all types of photography for both events and commercial. Here is the link to his site: http://www.pkphoto.com/.

After our lunch at Steven Starr’s Continental I am convinced that they serve the biggest salads I have ever seen, but the food was great as well as the conversation.

After our meeting I just had to stop at The Papery at 3rd and Arch, since it was so close, and it’s one of my favorite stores to browse. I really liked the new designs they have for the Vera Wang stationary. Can’t wait to use them :)

blue and grey

I saw this today on Trendsetter Wedding, a blog I love to read. I wanted to post it because it was just soooo refreshing to me to see blue paired with something other then brown. Although blue and brown have been hot for quite some time, it’s nice to see something else. I think the grey and blue look great together.

Wedding Spending Hits It’s Plateau (Philadelphia, New Jersey, Event Planner).

Today the Washington Post published a transcript of Michelle Preli, editor of Brides.com, Q&A session regarding wedding planning. In May 2008 I attended a seminar presented by Brides magazine on statistics of wedding planning, and I was interested to find that the average cost of weddings has not increased but decreased! Michelle Preli reports that there has not been an increase since 2006.

During the presentation I sat through last May it seemed as though couples were not allowing the economy to stop them from having what they wanted at their weddings. The presenters also said that they did not see this changing. Couples were very willing to use their credit cards, take out loans, or find other means to have the things they wanted. In just over a year, the state of the economy is being taken just a little bit more seriously… Please compare my notes from the presentation I attended May 20th, 2008 to the Washington Post’s transcript published today below. There are also some interesting facts in last years presentation.

May 20, 2008 Meeting

  • Budgets are up 83%
  • Average wedding budget is $36,000.00
  • There are an average of 177 decisions made while planning a wedding. Per week from the time engaged until married couples spend 3.1 hours on weekdays, 1.5 hours at work, and 5.5 hours on the weekend.
  • The average wedding is 168 guests
  • 79% of brides ship at independent bridal salons for their dresses, and spend over $900.00 on their dress.
  • Brides spend 3 times more on beauty products then the regular population.
  • 85% take a honeymoon.
  • $25,000.00 is the average cost of a destination wedding and the average number of guests is 63.

July 21, 2009 Washington Post Stats

  • The average wedding cost these days is $28,082.00
  • Average wedding guest count is 155
  • Average wedding cake costs $446.00
  • Average bridesmaid dress costs $126.00

The Q&A session by Michelle had some great topics discussed. To read the full article follow this link http://tiny.cc/GMuqP

What NOT to Wear

Posted: October 28th, 2009 | Tags: , , , , , | No Comments »
This is a topic that can often be argued upon. What should the Mother of the Bride wear??? If you look up four different articles on this topic, they will probably report four different stories. As far as individuality has come in weddings, and some traditions have begun to fade, it really just depends on what the bride and groom want. If the bride and groom are more of a relaxed couple and into self expression their specifications may be much less rigid then someone who is extremely traditional. It can be decided on a case by case basis.

There are however some guidelines that should always be followed:

  • Always try to buy a dress that matches the tone of the wedding. If it is a beach wedding, don’t show up in a ball gown, and if it is a very formal event don’t show up in a sun dress.. You get the picture :)
  • Never wear black or white.
  • Don’t wear a color that will clash with the bridal party. You don’t want the Mother of the Bride to look like a sore thumb in a bold red dress when the bridal party is wearing mint green.

Besides these things it is up to the bride and groom. If you are a more traditional couple, here is a website with some good guidelines on traditions that can be followed http://tiny.cc/nZB8A

I would love to hear what the readers have experienced. Please comment and tell us what you or your family for your weddings.
